Ed and all Birthers, here is the definition.

How nice of the GOP to put out Bobby Jindal as a spokesman. Because the Goopers have Bobby on the short list for President in 2012.

So let’s look at Bobby.

He said he was the child of Indian immigrants, he was 4.5 months in the womb when they landed in the good old USA.  Let’s just clear some stuff up right now, his parents were not US citizens.

Bobby was born in the USA, ie Natural Born Citizen. Well, as most of us see it.

Ed and his Orcs would say no however.

But .. they want this guy, so????

Let me do it one last time Ed Hale and your fucing retard followers: Natural Born means born in the USA. Period. No further discussion.

A new rant about Ed Hale and his folks.

I’ve been lazy, and really happy and honored to have my new friends at The Regulator give me some breathing time regarding Ed Hale.  Ya remember Ed, the toothless hick from north Texas who killed 2 bigfoots, (bigfeet?), had the Whitey Tape, the Sun Times Ad, the Indonesian Passport, the Hawaiian Divorce papers, and 2 Cease and Desist orders?  That Ed Hale.

Anyway, Ed and his minions have been trying to redefine centuries old law in the USA. Citizenship is a major concern of theirs, and is kinda contrary to … well everyone else’s idea about it.

And have somehow come to the conclusion that only people of their “Ilk” look after other people.

Witness this forum entry from Ed’s site.

See…, they claim this Miami banker as a hero, one of them,  cause he gave up 60 million dollars to help the little  people. So he couldn’t in their mind be anyone but one of them.  They like charity, especially when they receive it (hit that paypal button). (actually, he helped his childhood friends, just as good on him)

Don ‘t  get me started on Government Cheese,  I won’t be able to get that song out of my mind for a month.

But they didn’t research their new hero.  Cause if they did, they would have found out that Leonard Abess Jr gave $37,300 to Democratic candidates last year.

Oh dear, you mean your hero gave money to Obama and the DNC?

He is a… Democrat? Oh fuck, dear me.

And it got worse on Tuesday night, Albess was an honored guest of Obama at his speech to a Joint Session of Congress.  And called out by President Obama, and on all the Television coverage and..

He is a … Deomcrat?

Dang, it suxxorz t o be a HaleTard and so stupid.

Gotta support the new Presidents call to get at least one year of higher education when ya see shit like this.

Mikogo

Ok ok, most of our readers probably couldn’t care less, but I am a techy and when I see a good thing, I like to share it.

Ever wanted to share your desktop with somebody else, possibly on the other side of the world? Maybe to talk her through a presentation, maybe to receive or give him remote support? There are various tools to do that, most of them having serious drawbacks such as lacking responsiveness over long distances, platform specific, user friendliness, badly crippled free versions, privacy concerns, security concerns, requirement to install something or even the requirement to tweak the local router. It’s a fine line and no solution can, by definition, resolve all issues mentioned.

Doing some remote support here and there the most important thing is ease of use, especially for the sharer (the viewer is usually better off). The best free (as in in free beer) solution I have found so far, striking a truly fair balance between all issues mentioned above is Mikogo. It is free, requires no tweaking, has a clear and understandable feature set, does both view desktop as well as full control by the viewer. I love it.

There are two versions. One is just the viewer, and it is a single exe you run when hitting “Join Meeting”. No installs, no nothing. Just run it and enter the meeting code the sharer gave, that’s it. The other one is the sharer, that also includes the viewer (‘Download’). And yes, that one requires an install. just set it to not autostart; me no likey autostarts. Give it a go. The day you need it, you’ll be a happy person.

Obama ducks question from Helen Thomas – THE ANSWER IS ISRAEL!

There’s a reason why “Bush the Lesser” refused to take questions from White House correspondent Helen Thomas – she asks REAL questions. So at last nights press conference President Obama ducked one of Helen’s two questions. While I’m thrilled he called on her (did he really have any choice – I thought she’d be first in line?) he didn’t answer her question and that to me was very disappointing – who is it, on the Israeli right President Obama is protecting? Our “Middle East” foreign policy must be based on pragmatism, but President Obama is unable, or unwilling to speak the truth.

Obama: All right. Helen. This is my inaugural moment here. (Laughter.) I’m really excited.

Helen Thomas:…. And also, do you know of any country in the Middle East that has nuclear weapons?

…..

Obama: With respect to nuclear weapons, you know, I don’t want to speculate. What I know is this: that if we see a nuclear arms race in a region as volatile as the Middle East, everybody will be in danger.

And one of my goals is to prevent nuclear proliferation generally.

I think that it’s important for the United States, in concert with Russia, to lead the way on this. And you know, I’ve mentioned this in conversations with the Russian president, Mr. Medvedev, to let him know that it is important for us to restart the conversation, about how we can start reducing our nuclear arsenals in an effective way, so that —

[CK: at this point Obama cuts Helen off and moves on to another reporter]
=====

Who Mr. President, who has nuclear weapons in the “Middle East?” Come now – I hope you know the answer. :(

Live and let live

Tonight, around 8:10 PM CET, Eluana Anglaro passed away.

May she rest in eternal peace.

Previously: It’s 1992. Then 22 year Italian young woman Eluana Anglaro is caught in a deadly car crash. Her body refused to die, but she was deeply comatose, and in essence, well, dead. Her father decided she had to be let go. Sad detail is that a friend of Eluana also had gone into a deep coma and according to her father, she had told him that that wasn’t life, and she would never want to live live like that. Fast forward 2009. The now 38 year old Eluana’s body is still alive, and her father is still fighting to give her a respectful, caring, compassionate death. Last 10 years of the fight was before the highest justice body of Italy.

All that time, Rome, as in, the Catholic Church, has kept up a venomous and intense campaign to deny this woman her right to die. This of course stalled any lawmaking in unstable Italian politics. Finally, in November 2008 a few days ago, the highest court greenlighted her to be taken off artificial nutrition. Next hurdle was to find a clinic that would actually dared to do that. I think it would be fair to compare this situation with the abortion doctors in the US. A private clinic was found, and as far as I have understood, its doctors have now protection. She is off support as of yesterday morning and it should take another 3 to 4 days from now for her body to give up. But the craziness didn’t stop here.

The Italian administration (or cabinet as it’s called) yesterday met in a special meeting, to file a decree to forbid this to go through. Prime minister, now the right winged, 72 year old (remember, calling Obama “nicely suntanned” ?) womanizer and media moloch Silvio Berlusconi, had the insane, insulting and indecent brutality to state in public: “as a father, I will NOT take the responsibility for Eluana’s death”. He also stated the woman can still bear children “as she is still having her periods”, suggesting she can be cured. The Vatican immediately marked the decree as “a very courageous decision”. Now the president has to sign every law and decree, but you have to understand, a president in Italy is not a president of say the US: he has no executive powers. In this sense, the president is more like a head of state, a king. President Georgio Napolitano an hour and a half later refused to sign the decree, stating it is against the Italian constitution to file a decree that is going against the judgement of the highest court.

Don’t cheer yet, it’s not over. My prayers (in a non-religious sense) are with poor mr. Englaro. And mr. Napolitano has my deepest respect.

Latest (7-2): Italian parliament will gather Monday to debate. Not a good sign.

Latest (8-2): As expected: inspectors were sent to the clinic and they found “administrative irregularities”, and are trying to prove the clinic is not a sanatorium as spoken of in the last verdict. Pope Benedictus made strong hint in a Sunday speach. And one of the cardinals phoned Napolitano. And the church cheered parliament’s effort to ratify the decree on Monday. Told ya. In a response, Eluana’s father has publicly invited both Berlusconi and Napolitano to the clinic.

Latest (9-2): Police filed a request at the justice department to seize the room where Eluana is dying.

Latest (9-2): She passed away. I will refrain from posting, as well as commenting on the Vatican’s declaration.

Side note one: of course, dozens of people are “let go” of each year in Italy, but that is simply under the surface. One of my siblings is a chief anesthesiologist, say no more. It’s just a private, silence thing.

Side note two: it might seem I am on an anti-religion roll, just after yesterday’s post. I am not. Old men telling others what to live and die for is what gets me. Together with the Richardson drama, this is the fast lane to my disrespect.

Winter in Holland

Dutch winter is, I guess, a bit different than, say, Alaskan. More moderate, and well, we haven’t had some serious natural ice for 12 years. So when it arrived in early January, well, it makes for a few pictures I would like to share. Get out the skates! The conversion to flash is not flawless, but hey, I am not going to post PowerPoint files here. Ignore the captions and enjoy. Click for next slide.

Science

Admitted, this is a little bit of a shocker (to some). But then, look at where it came from: Richard Dawkins. Apart from the shock factor, I couldn’t agree more.

Science flies...

Disclaimer: This seems NOT to be the text ad ran by the Atheist Bus Campaign (their donations went 30 times what they asked for!), that ad actually says: “THERE IS PROBABLY NO GOD. NOW STOP WORRYING AND ENJOY YOUR LIFE”. This pic is probably a photoshop.

Earlier on the nest: The God delusion.

What should we expect?

We have a new type of rule now. Not one-man rule, or rule of aristocracy or plutocracy, but of small groups elevated to positions of absolute power by random pressures and subject to political and economic factors that leave little room for decision.

They are representatives of abstract forces who have reached power through surrender of self. The iron-willed dictator is a thing of past.

There will be no more Stalins, no more Hitlers.

The rulers of this most insecure of all worlds are rulers by accident. Inept, frightened pilots at the controls of a vast machine they cannot understand, calling in experts to tell them which buttons to push.

—William S. Burroughs, “No More Stalins, No More Hitlers,” from Dead City Radio, Island Records, 1990; and Interzone, Viking Books, 1989.
